fear of

competing

in a new class

being the

bottom rung

realizing the reality

of your privilege

its infinite

unspoken bounty

holds back generations

perpetuates oppression

keeps the inevitable at bay

just one more day

fear of realizing

what you truly are

or worse

what you know

you are not

because if you were

what you aim to seem

you'd never have built

your foundation

on another's back

made them carry the weight

of your weakness

so you wouldn't have

to face it

and yet

in all your privilege

you stay chained

to your weakness

chains heavier

than those you oppress

because you choose

your chains

like jewelry

deliberately

obstructing liberty

and so you too

never realize

your fullest self

but

you see it now

don't you?

oppression

oppresses

everyone
